Sri Raghavendra Swamiji- one of the most powerful Madhva saints, the one who saves those who surrenders to HIS holy feet.HIS holiness is rightly called Kalyyuga kalpavrishka,Kamadhenu. On this day,the greatest guru Sri Sudeendra Tirtha did Pattabhisheka/Sanyashrama to Sri Venkataarya or Sri Venkatanatha and renamed him as “Sri Raghavendra Tirtha” .

Sri Raghavendra Vijaya(by Sri Narayanacharya) brings very interesting life history of Sri Raghavendra Swamiji in detail. The below sloka was recited by Sri Sudeendra Tirtha Swamiji and thus blessed Sri Venkatanatha & renamed as Sri Raghavendra Tirtha. The below sloka if recited properly with bhakthi will procure the blessings of MAntralaya Mahaprabhu Sri Raghavendra Swamiji, and there is no doubt in that.

As per the orders of Sri Moola Ramachandra Murthy, Sri Sudeendra Tirtha decided to give sanyashrama to well known and capable Sri Venkatanatha to rule the Vedanta samrajya. Thus Sri Sudeendra Tirtha bless, “May this Sri Raghavendra who tops the list of ascetics prosper with penances of Sri Surendra Tirtha,with the wealth and fame of Sri Vijayindra Tirtha and with my fame of dialectical skill”.
About the three great saints:
Sri Sri Surendra Tirtha: Sri Sri Surendra Theertha (1504 – 1575) was the 14th yathigalu in Sri Raghavendra Swamy Mutt parampare. He was known as Sri Venkatakrishnacharya, in his poorvashrama.His Gurugalu is none other than Sri Raghunandna Theertharu(Hampi).Sri Sri Surendra Theertha took in charge of SRI mutt for nearly 70 years. As his charma sloka says,in course of his vow of fast, he went round the country thrice. He was a great Vairagyasali. Sri Surendra Theertha got Sri Vishnu Theertha,one of the brilliant and energetic student,from Sri Vyasarajaru and he was renamed as Sri Vijayindra Theertha.He made Sri Vijayindra Theertha as his next successor and also he entrusted the one Narayanacharya under Sri Vijayindra Theertha. Narayanacharya was later renamed as Sri Sudeendra Theertharu(Gurugalu of Sri Raghavendra Theertha).
Sri Vijayindra Tirtha: Sri Vijayindra Tirtha was a `sarva-tantra-swatantra’, a master of the sixty-four arts, a winsome and magnetic personality,and the author of over a hundred works (104 are attributed to him). Click here to read more about Sri Vijayindra Tirtha.
