Namaskara to all Haribhaktaas,

In common parlance Daasaru means only Purandaradaasaru (daaasarendrare purandaradaasarayyaaa). Let us reverentially remember Sri Daasaru on the holy occassionwith some interesting incidents that took place in His life.
Sri Vyasarajaru had great regards for the works of Daasaru and also kept His works in high pedestal and did puja. Once in the assembly, Sri Vyaasarajaru was giving a lecture on the Brihadaaaryanyakaupanishad (as He was the Vice Chancellor of the Vijayanagar University).

His Holiness started….
“Athathaa Aaanandasya meemaamsasya bhavati……..mukthaanaam sadaguna visesha uchyate.”
The purport of the verses was that ananda was not easily achievable and it is only by the obtainment ofAparoksha gyaanaa does a soul eventually is rid of all its miseries.
The saint beckoned to Daasaru to sing asong related to this, to which Daasaru reverentially responded by composing a keertanaa as under…..

“Sulabhavallano Mahaanandaaa tanorialege taanu thiliyabeku guru dayadinda……”
The whole sabha was astonished by the extempore composing capacity of the Daasaru. But as it is the custom of all ages some people did not like Daasaru’s works to be worshipped on equal footing with the high pedestal and went on hackneying incessantly. Sri Vyasaraja one day called them together and asked them to throw all the works in the Tungabhadra, which they took and gleefully did. But to their consternation the palm leaves of Daasaru, which they had thrown into the river Tungabhadra had arrived back,at the place of Sri Vyaasaraajaa before they could reach the place. They begged pardon and realised the greatness of the works of the Daasaru .

Once Sri Purandara Daasaru was having a stroll with His friend Sri Belur Vaikuntha Daasaru and it was sandhya time when suddenly a rogue elephant charged at them and the former had come out of the way of the animal but the latter was caught in the middle. Sri Purandara Daasaru immediately started to invoke the Lordas…
Sakala duritagala parhaara maado venkatesa, bhaktige volidu bandu bhaktana kaayoo venkatesaa….varada Purandara vittalaa…(in mukari raagaa)

The elephant did pradikshana and namaskaara to Vaikuntha Daasaru and left the place. Vaikunatha Daasaru was least perturbed and Daasaru asked Him why he was so calm when the elephant was about to trample Him to death. Vaikuntha dasaru said when the linga sharreera itself gets destroyed by the satsanga of great souls like Sri Daasaru why to worry about this sthoola deha???

Sangavvaagali saadusangavaagalisanga dinda linga deha bangavaagali…
Sri Purandara Daasaru was happy over the reply of Sri Vaikuntha Daasaru and embraced the latter with raptures.
