In the year of 1595 Smt Gopikamba had given birth to son whose beautiful face was shinning like a Moon. It was all bright and his proud father Sri Thimmannarya named him as ‘Venkatanatha’ in the gratitude of Lord Shri Harih.
Yes, it is today (22/2/2018) ‘Venkatanatha’ (who was given Sanyasa and called as “Sri Raghavendra Swamiji”) was born in this yuga to save all of us from Samsara. His Holiness Vardhanti (Birthday) Utsava of Sri Raghavendra Tirtha is celebrated throughout the World.

‘Gu’ means darkness,’Ru’ means to confine. Guru means one who dispels the darkness of ignorance through the light of his knowledge.
