Dear Readers

In this post I would like to give details about Sri Raghavendrar brindhavana at the place called ‘Vaduvur’ at Tanjore,Tamilnadu , where Sri Swamin gave dharshan in five headed snake roopa (Sarpa) to the ruling King Raghunath Bhoopal of Tanjore, and told him that he will continue to bless all his devotees forever at the same place.

Pattabhisheka/Sanyashrama to Sri Venkataarya:

Sri Raghavendra Vijaya(by Sri Narayanacharya) brings very interesting life history of Sri Raghavendra Swamiji in detail. Sri Sudeendra Tirtha Swamiji blessed  Sri Venkatanatha & renamed as Sri Raghavendra Tirtha.  The grand function happened at Tanjore before the King Raghunatha Bhoopal, who was ruling the place during 1621.

After attaining sanyashrama Shri Raghavendra Tirtha continued to stay at Vaduvur for about 12 years and removed all miseries of his devotees, and the place was filled with all auspicious devatha presence. Sri Raghavendra Swamiji decided to go for Desha sanchara and leaves the place after blessing the King and devotees.

Sarpa Roopa Dharshana to King:
Within very few days the King had to undergo difficult time.  He had a great bhakthi towards Swamiji and he could not tolerate his absence at Tanjore. He sincerely prayed Shri Raghavendra Swamiji and requested him to stay always at Tanjore so that all his problems could be faced and the place would come back to normal state. Sri Raghavendra Swamiji with all his great powers understood the situation and ordered King to construct a brindhavana at Vaduvur where he would give dharshana in Sarpa roopa.

As promised to King, Sri Raghavendra Swamiji gave dharshan to King in Sarpa Roopa ( as 5 headed snake) and the King immediately constructed brindhavana on top of it. The same structure can be still seen @ Vaduvur.

The place Vaduvur is considered to be very sacred as Sri Raghavendra Swamiji himself had promised King  that he would continue to stay in Sookshma shareera and bless all his devotees. And hence there is no mrithika installed on this brindhavana.
