About Sri Raghavendra Swamy:
The meaning of Sri Raghavendra naama as given by Haridasas,
- “Ra” destroys mountains of sins,
- “gha” provides deep rooted devotion,
- “Ven” gives speedy liberation from the cycle of life and death
- “dra” blesses one with vision of the Lord within oneself
In the year of 1595, Sri Gopikamba had given birth to son whose beautiful face was shinning like a Moon. It was all bright and his proud father Sri Thimmannarya named him as ‘Venkatanatha’ in the gratitude of Lord Shri Harih.
Venkatanatha after completing his primary duties, accepted the sanyasa as per orders of Lord Sri Hari through his guru Sri Sudeendra Tirtha. Sri Raghavendra Swamy was a moon to the ocean of Madhvaacharya philosophy. With his vast knowledge on Dvaita philosophy his holiness had to win debates over other Vedanta schools, and did installation of Dvaita philosophy to the entire World.
Apart from that Sri Swamiji has had performed many miracles with the blessings of Lord. His holiness is considered to be karuna moorthy, kalyyuga kamadhenu. His holiness continues to bless all his dear devotees till date, there is no iota of doubt in that!
Mrithika brindhavana:
The mrithika (holy divine soil) from the hands of Sri Raghavendra Swamy protected/protects all his bhakthas, which his holiness proved and saved one of his devotees in his life time. Sri Raghavendra Swamy’s sannidhana exist in the mrithika. Before his holiness attained holy brindhavana at Mantralaya when his holiness devotee asked how they can feel his presence, for that Sri Rayaru answered that he lives in the same form in Mrithika brindhavanas. Such is the mahime of his mrithika brindhavana!
The seeds of Brahma sutra was shown by Lord Vedavyasa in the field of vedas and which sprouted during the period of Sri Madhvacharya and during the period of Sri Jayatirtha it grew in to beautiful branches. During Sri Vyasaraja’s time new leaves made their appearance which later led way to the blooming of beautiful flowers by Sri Vijayendra Tirtha and the tree of Madhwa siddhantra bore wonderful fruits by Sri Raghavendra Swamy and radiates brilliant effulgence all over – Sri Vadeendra Tirtha (from Guru Gunasthavana)
About Erode city:
Erode is one of the popular city in Tamilnadu, largest exporter of Textiles all over the World. Also world famous for the Largest producer of Turmeric. Also called as Turmeric City. Ruled by Cheras, Pandyas and also famous Vijayanagara kingdom during 1378 CE till 1559. Another interesting information is that Jagadguru Sri Madhvacharya also visited the city and made it so auspicious. Sri Lakshmi Manohara tirtha (famous pontiff from Sri Sripadaraja Mutt parampare) lived during the same time of Sri Raghavendra Swamiji. For sure Sri Raghavendra Swamy would have done digvijaya to Erode during his lifetime!
Sri Vyasarayaru installed many Hanumantha temples in and around Erode which you can find the information from here. Adding ghee to the sweet we can also have dharshana of Moola yathigalu of Sri Sripadaraja Mutt parampare. What a beautiful and blessed city it is and I am grateful knowing the greatness about my native place!
1st Ever Mrithika brindhavana at Erode:
When Sri Rayaru attained the holy brindhavana at Mantralaya devotees were blessed to get his mrithika and all started setting up brindhavanas across the World, especially in bharatha desha. When devotees from Erode wanted to get the blessings of Sri Rayaru grace they prayed Rayaru sincerely and they have been bestowed with Mrithika around 350 years back, which devotees say even now that they have also got Saligrama from the brindhavana along with mrithika! Note that it is the 1st mrithika brindhavana of Tamilnadu!
Sri Rayaru devotees with atmost bhakthi started back their journey to Erode and with Rayaru grace they installed a beautiful Hanumantha vigraha along with 7 feet of Rayaru mrithika brindhavana, near the banks of the river Cauvery. It is considered very powerful even now, and lot of them have felt the presence of Sri Rayaru on many occasions, and Rayaru no doubt is considered a kalpva vruksha!
Maha Kumbaabhisekha of Temple:
It is proposed to perform grand kumba abhishekha of such an auspicious temple for Hanumantha and Sri Rayaru on July 1st 2024, which will be done by the present pontiff of Sri Raghavendra Swamy Mutt, and grand homa and other rituals starts from 29th June 2024.
