Samvatsara means a Year in Samskrita (approx 361 days as per Surya siddhanta) as per our Hindu Panchanga. There are 60 samvatsaras as listed by the great Saint Varahamihira, as per Brihat Samhita.
The running samvatsara is Viśvāvasu and the next year as per the periodic cycle is Prabhava Nama(பராபவ (पराभव)) samvatsara which starts from 19th March 2026, where Hindus celebrate it as Yugadi.
Prabhava denotes themes of humility, struggle, and transcendence; it’s a significant period in Vedic astrology, marking a time for spiritual growth, facing challenges like ego, and planning auspicious events using detailed Panchangam.
