Temple History (Sthala Varalaru)

Dear Devotees,

This temple has a long and sacred history. During ancient times, the Ottiyambakkam area was surrounded by forests. This temple was present from the age of Pandyas, says some of the local villagers. From that time onward, this sacred place came to be known as Sri Lakshmi Venkatesa Perumal Temple.

The temple’s ancient structure had decayed over time and nearly disappeared. For the past 100 years, there had been no proper temple or maintenance. Realising this, the local devotees formed a committee and decided to rebuild the temple. With divine grace and the efforts of the devotees, the present-day Sri Lakshmi Venkatesa Perumal Temple was reconstructed beautifully, although they are constructing to have mantapam, gopuram etc.

Today, regular poojas and rituals are performed with great devotion. Many devotees come to offer prayers and receive the blessings of Sri Lakshmi Venkatesa Perumal, who fulfills their wishes and grants prosperity.

The temple continues to grow spiritually and socially under the guidance and service of dedicated devotees and trustees. With your continued support and devotion, the temple will continue to flourish for generations to come.
