Aradhane of Shri Purandara dasaru (1480-1564)
Aradhane of Shri Purandara dasaru is celebrated on 16/1/2018, and this post is to bring the greatness of Haridasaru, who is hailed as Daasa Sreshtam Dayanidim is no exception and in all his Keertanas, Suladis and Uga bhogas he has highlighted several aspects of Sri Madhva philosophy.
Sri Purandara Dasaru is sakshat Naradara amsha, he has composed nearly 4,79,000 songs which he himself has said in one of his krithis. He says it is only due to Lords blessings he was able to do such compositions.
Saint Sri Tyagarajar
Sri Purandara Dasaru is also called Sangeetha Pithamaha. His songs were the base for many of the notable Dasas like saint Sri Tyagarajar, Annamacharyar etc. Sri Tyagarajar had said himself that he was brought up by his mother singing lullaby songs of Sri Purandaradasaru. Sri Purandara Dasaru songs are simple, easy to understand, same time it contains the essence of Brahma sutras,Vedas,Puranas etc. All vedanta rahasya are hidden in each and every song. And those who know that will enjoy the flavour and sincerely pray Dasaru for giving such beautiful compositions for all our Swaroopa Uddhara!
Shri Vyasarajaru his Gurugalu, rightly said He, Purandara dasa is a real dasa who does pooja, sings, dances in the name of Lord Shri Krishna,and there is nobody else. He is the real gyanin, who does smarane of Vayu anthargatha Sri Rama.
Coming to the topic of this post,
Who will come with you? Yaru baruvaru ninna hinde?
Who will come with you(after leaving this deha) when Sri Yama (and his servants) comes and tie rope on your hands and pull you to his Yama loka?
Family/ Relatives, Money, House/Properties nothing will come with you when your deha is taken care by Yama.
As soon as our deha leaves this body all our relatives immediately will put fire on our body, (for their safety/health reasons) and collect the ashes and mix it with Water. And all will disperse in sometime. Is it what we all wanted to? Is it why this Deha was given as gift by Lord?
Please atleast know it now and remember nobody else will protect you! Sri Hanumantha anthargatha Lord Shri Purandara Vitthala is our only saviour and we must have sincere bhakthi on him. Dasaru says, if we can meditate sincerely on Lord he will gift us with bimba aproksha gyana and finally we will attain Lords feet(through deathless), not Yamas feet(through death).

Dasaru emphasizes the importance of Human birth, it is of great value and one must make use of this janma otherwise we will not get it back.
Dasaru says, We arent able to pray Lord in the morning because we are searching for Food and Hungry is our first thing which comes up when we get up in the morning. So Morning all time is wasted doing such activity. And evening, due to tiredness we are unable to remember his Holy Name, and finally we are going to bed for sleep.
‘nIramElaNa guLE nijavalla hariyE’ says Dasaru, meaning this life is temporary,not permanent. We live like a bubble in the water, we might burst out anytime and prays Shri Purandara Vitthala to bless us within that! Similarly Sri KanakaDasaru prays, “I cry to the maximum, enough of serving Mankind O Ranga please bless us with mukthi”
Purandaradasaru says the whole day is wasted doing such things, and we are in such situation and cries to Lord to bless all of us to remove all our miseries and give us Gyana/Bhakthi to overcome Samsara sagara.
When Gaja(Elephant) called Lord for help, he appeared before him in Garudavahana and blessed. Similarly, we all are your servants and you have to bless us as well. (Ninna dasara dasanu na karedare Enna palisabeku purandara vitthala)
shrIkAnta enagiSTu dayamADo!
Dasaru prays Lord Shrikantha(Sriman NArayana) to bless him when he mediates on his Lotus feet. He calls Lord as a father(tande) , as He is the Father of the entire Universe. Dasaru says due to worldly attachment he focused only enriching his health/wealth and protected only his family but later he realised nothing will come with him. Whatever may be, he prays Lord Shri Purandara Vitthala to remove all our sins,arrogant mentality(hina guna) and bless always with moksha
